周知のとおり、中国政府は最近、外国の旅行者とメディアにチベットへの渡航を禁止しました。 このことは、この地域が緊迫状況にあることを示し、そしてその政府は逆らう者を残忍に抑圧しています。

チベットにおいてチベット人は中国の規則の下で幸福ではないということは、頻繁に行われる平和的なデモによっても明確に示されています。たびたびチベット人は不当な取扱いに対する不満について詳しく説明しようとしましたが、中国当局はいつも、人々の切なる願いを無視し握りつぶしてきました。

今年の3月16日に、キルティ僧院のある若いチベット人僧侶は、中国当局の残虐と不正について異議を申し立てるために焼身自殺をしました。そして中国当局は、チベット人の不満について理解しようと試みるどころか、キルティ僧院の周囲を完全に包囲し、約300人の僧侶は逮捕され消息不明となっています。僧侶らとの連帯感を示した地元のチベット人は激しく殴打され、捕らえられ、拷問されています。

拷問と嫌がらせは「愛国教育」という名目の下、その地で今なお続いています。

中国警察が群集にむけて放った犬が、多くの罪もない人々に襲いかかったとの報告もあります。中国警察のこの行為は、中国当局がどのようにチベット人を見ているのかを明確に示しています。チベットへの外国の訪問者が制限されている今、閉ざされた扉の中で何が行われているか、我々は容易に想像することができます。

ボイス・オブ・アメリカ(ラジオ・ニュース)によると、2,500人もの僧侶がキルティ僧院の中に閉じ込められ、包囲されていると報じられています。60代の2人の女性が警察の蛮行と拷問で死亡しました。

国連はキルティ僧院の状況に懸念を表明し、中国当局は逮捕された僧侶らの所在について明らかにするようにと強く要請しました。

また、世界各国の政府および支持者は、中国指導者がより責任ある行動をとり、国際標準を遵守するよう促しました。

この事態に際し、認識と支持を広め、チベットでの拷問と殺害をやめるよう中国政府に対して要請してくださいます日本人の支持者の皆様に感謝申し上げます。

私は、この地における不正と殺害をやめ、一刻も早くチベットを訪問する外国人への規制を解くよう、中国当局に要請いたします。

Chinese brutalism at Kirti Monastery

As you are all aware, Chinese government has recently issued a ban on travel by foreign tourists and media to Tibet. This indicates that the situation is getting tense in the region and the government is suppressing the dissenters brutally.

Tibetans in Tibet have on number of occasions explicitly made it clear through peaceful demonstrations that Tibetans are not happy under the Chinese rule. Tibetans have tried to spell out their grievances number of times, but the Chinese authorities have always ignored and crushed the people’s aspiration.

This year on March 16th, a young Tibetan monk in Kirti Monastery burnt himself to protest the Chinese atrocities and injustice. Instead of trying to study the grievances of the Tibetans, the Chinese authorities fortified Kirti Monastery and arrested some 300 monks and the where about of these monks are still not disclosed. When the resident Tibetans came to show their solidarity with the monks, they were beaten, arrested and tortured.

Torture and harassment is still continuing in the region under the name of “patriotic education”. It has been reported that the security people have unleashed trained dogs on the public, and the dogs bit many innocent people.This act of Chinese security people clearly shows how the Chinese authority looks at the Tibetans. Now that Tibet is closed to foreign visitors, we all can well imagine, what is going to happen behind the closed door.

According to Voice of America, as many as 2,500 monks are believed to be inside the Kirti monastery, which is still under siege. Two women in their 60s died because of police brutality and torture.

UN has raised concern over the situation in Kirti monastery and urged the Chinese authority to disclose the where about of the arrested monks. Governments and supporters have also urged the Chinese leadership to be more responsible and abide by the International norms.

I take this opportunity to thank the Japanese supporters who have been sincerely trying to raise public awareness and support to urge the Chinese government to stop the torture and killing in Tibet. I urge the Chinese authorities to stop the injustice and killing in the region and lift the ban on foreigners visiting Tibet at the earliest.
